2nd round of crowdfunding / 50th birthday

I am deeply grateful to all who supported me during my first year in New York City. Your support made my move to New York possible, secured a disability-accessible home, and helped me start my artistic journey.

My new crowdfunding campaign, which successfully brought me to NYC last year, is starting around my 50th birthday. Now that my expenses have changed from airplanes and taxis to something significantly different—more aligned with why I came here in the first place—you’re invited to contribute through a sliding scale to the range of expenses I’m fundraising for.

How productive was my first year in New York?

Here’s what I managed while chasing my dreams of (still not!) having a movie agent and theatre commissions:

Landed my first movie job after a successful audition, with multiple scenes on Manhattan streets—waiting for it to be the next big hit ha ha 🎥
Got my poetry chosen for a choreography show at Dixon Place titled ‘Threat to democracy’ 💃
Held my own workshop of improvisational text, sound, and voice 🎤
Read my poetry for the first time in New York at an event curated by Robert Galinsky 📜
Got invited to read again in October—yes! ✨
Finished three out of four levels of improv comedy classes—planning to be very funny, soon ha ha 😆
Went to multiple acting and drumming classes—until I realized I just need to be doing it! 🥁
Kept working on my fictional autobiography—do wonder why it’s fictional in the context of my life’s story 😁 it will be a huge hit after I spend the rest of my life writing about my life ha ha

Expenses: To Keep Me Creating in NYC

My necessary and wished-for expenses, on a sliding scale from smallest to biggest:

$3 per return ride to Manhattan or Brooklyn (keep me moving?) 🚇
$10 for food per day (or just send an Amazon gift card to vesna.mackovic@gmail.com, as I use their deliveries for fruit and veggies) 🍎
$20 per hour for in-person help at home (6 hours weekly) 🧹
$80 per event for assistance at my performances—help with wigs, costumes, and carrying tech equipment 🎬
3 × $100 per year for membership in casting platforms (let’s keep those auditions rolling into my inbox!) 🎭
$200 per song draft in music studio (let’s do it continuously and forever! Get all those melodies, songs, and lyrics out of my head into a proper distributable format—they’ve been silent and sleeping inside me too long, and I’ve discovered a beautiful musician producer who connects well with what I want to compose and create) 🎶
$800 per song for mastering and making a video 🎧
$500 per evening for venue/theatre rental + tech for my solo shows (wishful thinking: once per month, as I have so much to show from my concepts book) 🎫
$2,000 per month for renting accessible living space (let me make it one more year!) 🏠
$5,000 for one-year health insurance (my 6 months of free Fidelis care ended) ⚕️
$20,000 for this hands-free, gravitation-balancing Segway-type scooter/chair for people with mobility limits, so I can finally explore and enjoy beautiful New York City parks and go on hikes with people without those terribly uncomfortable classical wheelchairs (there’s no model gentle enough for my artificial hips).
